Parker Classic Road Race - May 18, 2008

Great Fishie turnout this morning at Devens for the Parker Road Race!

Temperatures felt comfortable at the 11:00am Start of the 5-mile race, but the sun soon started warming the pavement.  We were thankful for the shady sections in the last two miles.

I can't say if this holds true for the speedsters in the group; they might have finished before things started heating up...  I don't have the official results yet, (now available here) but I am advised that Brian Reeves took First Place overall.  And knowing the blistering streak that Kerri Strauss has been on lately, I'm sure she was at or near the top of her category as well.

Among the "notables":

- Razia Shoyeb ran the 2-mile race at 10:00am for a warm-up, and then completed the 5-mile race afterwards.  Check out her exquisite form coming into the Finish of the 2-mile race.

- Anthony Mavilia ran with Leann, and once again magnanimously let her cross the Finish Line one stride ahead.  The Mavilias were also joined by their nephew, Steve, who turned in a commendable performance.

- Other new/old faces that joined in the fun:  Mary Brown, Anita Gauntlett, Brian Reeve's sister (Kelly) and daughter (Kayla), and the ever-elusive Alix Chace, outfitted in very chic sunglasses and sipping bottled Perrier.

My apologies if I omitted any other notable "notables".

Check out some photos here.

This is a very nice little race.  Nice course, friendly, not far to drive, and for a good cause.  Put it on your calendar for 2009.
